FRAGMENTS OF PLAY
‘On the Grid: Fragments of Play’ reimagines and reconstructs the notion of ‘play’ in our neighbourhood streets by having play elements fragmented around the neighbourhood with a tactical urbanism approach instead of one playground space.
Not only is the aim here to enhance children's creativity and resilience through the fragmented structures (designed based on human behaviour with structures in public settings observed during ethnographic research conducted) in which may be considered ‘risky play’ with them being strategically placed around the neighbourhood, it also aims to encourage adults' involvement in the fragmented "playing grounds".

Ellaine Viel Garcia is a growing multidisciplinary designer with a background in architecture, and with that, it allows her to consider perspectives with alternating lenses.
