NEXT GEN HINDU DEITIES
GANESHA
Ganesha is created to initiate a discussion on what a deity sculpture could be like in the future by designing two simplified forms of Ganesha and questioning what is more important - the physical form or the belief? The first form has been deconstructed by removing the deity's intricate details and simplifying it to something more minimal, but retaining certain traditional characteristics.
Since religion is a sensitive subject, changes to it should be made gradually to allow people time to adjust. The first form is therefore what I envision might be acceptable in the present. The second form however is my vision of what the future of Hindu deities might look like, whereby people are more open to change and willing to adapt to a simple and minimum version of the idol.
